How do Anti-Fog Glasses Work?

Foggy lenses are a pain. At best, they’re an annoyance. In a worst-case scenario, however, the temporarily impaired vision they cause can be extremely dangerous.

Now that everyone is wearing face masks in the age of coronavirus, glasses-wearers are experiencing more foggy lenses than ever before because masks direct exhaled moist air right up into glasses.

All BrandX glasses come with an anti-fog coating to remedy this problem. But how do they work?

Fogginess (Fogging) occurs when you enter a warm environment after having been in a cooler one. Water vapor from the air then condenses onto the cold surface of the glasses. Condensed water forms droplets on your lenses because the attraction of water molecules to each other is greater than their attraction to the surface of the lenses. The anti-fog coating gets between the water molecules and prevents them from sticking to one another. Therefore, instead of droplets, you get a thin film of water that does not inhibit your vision.

When you don’t have to worry about your glasses fogging up, you can go about your day safely, productively, and comfortably. A new day for safety!
